After a life of love and quiet grace, Allie Rang, 102, has passed.

Here is the shape of a life remembered with love.

The story begins in 1914, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

Allie spent her working life as ['several years at Luther Manor Nursing Home'] and held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Some find their compass in faith. Allie was among them.

Allie Rang 102, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on June 10, 2016, at Dow Rummel Village. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 6 pm Tuesday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker, where the family will greet friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Allie Van Buren was born February 5, 1914, in Hospers, Iowa, to Otto and Dirkje (Olivier) Van Buren. She graduated from Lennox High School. Allie married Ernest J. Rang on September 28, 1941, and moved to their farm outside Parker where they raised their four children. Her son, Warren, preceded her in death in 1966, and her husband, Ernest, passed in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Rients Van Buren (1999), sister, Agnes Stroman (2012), and daughter-in-law, Barbara Getman Rang, who passed in 2005. Allie spent most of her married life as a homemaker. In her kitchen, she served many family members, neighbors and friends who enjoyed her sweet rolls and fruit pies. She was an active 4-H mom and after her family was grown, she worked for several years at Luther Manor Nursing Home. Her church home was Zion Lutheran Church in Hartford where she was a member of the Ladies' Aid organization. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter-in-law, Mabel Grave (Marlin), Hartford; her children, William (Phyllis), Sioux Falls, Joyce Cutler (James), Westford, MA; Lois Smith (Gregory), Janesville, WI; grandchildren: Kathy Williams (Thomas), Parker; Donald Rang (Janeen), Parker; Duane Rang (Leesa), Sioux Falls; Dawn Hanson (Jeff), Sioux Falls; Diane Bendt (Steve), Viborg; Donna Gabbert (Scot), Hartford; Jonathan Cutler (Rio), Hoboken, NJ; Jennifer Sandals (Nathan), Woodbridge, VA; and Matthew van Buren, Taos, NM.
