Gail held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Some find their compass in faith. Gail was among them.

Gail (Hokanson) Dykstra, 88 of Denver, CO passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Funeral service will be at 11:00am Friday, November 21, 2014 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe, SD with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Gail Hokanson was born on December 26, 1925 at Morristown, South Dakota to John and Nettie (Goodmanson) Hokanson. She was united in marriage to Duane Dykstra on July 12, 1947 at Sioux Falls, SD. They lived on a farm near Monroe, South Dakota until moving to Colorado in 1956. Gail was an active member of the Valley Lutheran Church and a volunteer at St. Anthony's North Hospital for 20 years. Gail enjoyed her family, friends, and traveling. Grateful for having shared her life are 5 children, Bonnie, Windsor, CO, Darrel (Pam), Lakewood, CO, Donald, Denver, CO, Alan and Robin (Julia), all of Seward, AK; 9 grandchildren, Stacey, Jason, David, Erin, Nathan, Maxwell, Jacob, Robbin, and Keith; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane.
