Harold Smith, 92 of Sioux Falls, formally of Parker, passed away on April 3, 2022 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Parker. Burial to follow at the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. The service will be broadcasted at https://www.facebook.com/HofmeisterJonesFuneralHome . In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be directed to the church. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Harold Richard Smith was born on January 5, 1930 near Parker, SD to Ole and Christina (Peterson) Schmidt. He grew up near Parker and graduated from Parker High School in 1949. On March 14, 1954 he married the love of his life Olive Budde at Parker. They farmed near Parker until 1965 when they moved to Sioux Falls. He worked in the hotel and rental property business until retiring in 1980. After retirement they enjoyed for 35 years being snowbirds in Florida and Arizona, traveling, fishing and vacationing on several cruises. He was very generous and was very proud of his kids and grandkids. Since 2018 they have been residents at Pioneer Memorial in Viborg. Olive died on April 3 rd , 2021 and Harold went to meet her on the same day one year later. Grateful for having shared his life are his 4 children, Carol (Bob) Heisel, Dell Rapids, SD, Richard (Tracy) Smith, Sioux Falls, Linda (Bob) McDowell, Denver, Co and Jeff (Lisa) Smith, Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Olive and two brothers, Lee and Alvin.
