Olive was witness to a great deal of change — and shaped some of it.
Olive Baker, 94 of Hurley, passed away on September 27, 2024 at the Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Hurley City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Tieszen Memorial Nursing Home Chapel in Marion. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Olive Baker was born on December 26, 1929 to Winnie and Angie Bronson Baker at Hurley, SD. She spent her entire life in the Hurley community where she and her sister Deanna cleaned houses together. Olive enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. She spent her entire life taking care of family. Olive was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Irene Baker, Gladys Enos, Alice Woltzen Weeldreyer, Grace Baker, and Deanna Baker. She is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews.
