William "Bill" Leber, 66,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Here is a glimpse of the life he lived, in his family's own remembrance.

Born in 1946, William began a life that would touch many along the way.

William spent his working life as ['welder'] and held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

The community of faith holds its own well — and William was held.

William Leber, 66, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his home in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Turkey Ridge with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8:00pm Sunday with family present from 6-8:00pm at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley. William Henry Leber was born on July 29, 1946 at Pasco, WA to Hank and Anna (Kippes) Leber. The family moved to South Dakota in 1950 where he graduated from Hurley High School in 1965. After serving in the US Navy for 4 years he lived in Pennsylvania. He married JoAnn Caterino on April 16, 1966 at Lancaster, PA. To this union 7 children were born. They moved back to South Dakota in 1974 where he was employed at various jobs and had worked as a welder. Survivors include 7 children, Tim (Marla), Viborg, Ben (Cindy), Vermillion, Dan, Hurley, Rebecca (Greg) Kane, Hawarden, IA, John (Cynthia), Worthing, Aaron, Viborg, and Nathan (Amber), Viborg; 14 grandchildren; and 7 brothers and sisters, Allen, Hurley, Shirley Benson, Hurley, Mark, Dell Rapids, Ruth Riggs, Virginia Beach, VA, Martha Wall, Tucson, AZ, Mary Kay Smith, Davis, and Germain, Dallas, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James, sister Joanna, and a granddaughter, Bobbie Jo.
