With heavy hearts, we share the passing of William Schoenwald, 92,.

These pages are a small offering toward a much larger life.

The story begins in 1921, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

William spent his working life as ['farm hand before serving in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre during WW II'] and held deeply to the Methodist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A life of belief is a life of quiet conversation with something larger.

William " Bill" Schoenwald Parker. William Schoenwald, 92, died Friday, February 22, 2013 under home hospice care. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm. William Schoenwald was born February 8, 1921 to Ferdinand and Maria (Engbrecht) Schoenwald. He worked as a farm hand before serving in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. After his discharge from the service he started to work at John Morrell in Sioux Falls as well as maintaining the family farm, retiring in 1982. On January 4, 1952 he was united in marriage to Cora Mae Miller and lived on the farm west of Parker. Bill loved to fish and went to Canada fishing many years. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church Parker, and is a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed being a jack of all trades, woodworking, tending to the farm, raising pheasants, and spending time with friends and family. His wife Cora Mae died in 2004. Grateful for having shared his life are his 6 children, Leon (Karlene), Monroe, Pam Luke, Marion, Cindy (Alan) Kaufmann, Howard, Karen Schoenwald and Jay Schoenwald, both of Canton, and Jill (Craig) Jensen, Hurley; a daughter in law, Darnell Schoenwald, Hudson; 10 Grand Children and 9 Great Grand Children; a sister Rose Loewen, Freeman; a brother Ferd (RoseMary) Schoenwald, Marion; and 2 sisters in law, Maurene Miller, Sioux Falls and Grace Schoenwald, Salem.
