Dennis Leroy Nelson Dennis L. Nelson, 79 of Marion died peacefully at the Tieszen Memorial Home on Sunday, December 31, 2017 with family by his side. Memorial Services will be 2:00pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the memorial service. Dennis Leroy Nelson was born to Charles and Emma (Christensen) Nelson on September 3rd, 1938 in Hurley, SD. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1957. After graduating he served in the Army for 2 years active and 2 years inactive duty. Dennis was united in marriage to Betty Jean Blumer on April 20, 1962. To this union four children were born: Mickey (Sharon) Nelson, Joey (Teresa) Nelson, all of Sioux Falls, Paula (Ed) Draskovich, Marion, Timothy Nelson and special friend Laura Westphal, Maquoketa, IA. Dennis worked for Farmers Coop Elevator for 22 years in Marion, SD, Hutchison Technology in Sioux Falls until his retirement, and worked part-time at Marion Oil pumping gas. He loved to visit with all the customers and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife Betty; 4 children, Mickey (Sharon) Nelson and Joey (Teresa) Nelson, all of Sioux Falls, Paula (ed) Draskovich, Marion, Timothy Nelson and special friend Laura Westphal, Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and a sister Hazel Vrabec, Algonquin, IL.
