After a life of love and quiet grace, J Harvey Viet, 95, has passed.

What follows is written with love, by those who knew him best.

J entered this world in 1920 — the start of a journey that would span 95 years.

J saw decades come and go, and held the lessons of each.

Harvey Viet, age 95, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2015, at Pathstone Assisted Living in Mankato. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home in Parker, South Dakota with interment in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker, South Dakota. Harvey was born on April 26, 1920 in Parker, SD to John and Elsie (Otten) Viet. Harvey was united in marriage to Lois Janssen on April 27, 1941. They shared their lives together for 74 years. Harvey is survived by his daughter, Pat (Steve) Davis of North Mankato, MN; son-in-law, Gene Moody of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren: and 2 sister in laws, Lorraine Viet, Parker and Bonnie Viet, Hartford. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; daughter, Pamela Moody; granddaughter, Teri Moody Stark; and brothers Earnest, Virgil, and Herman J. Viet. Harvey's Family expressed gratitude to Pathstone Crossing for their excellent care and concern for their residents.
