Jean spent her working life as ['the Home Cafe'] and held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What Jean believed shaped how she loved.

Marion. Jean Graber, 82 died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Freeman Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Saturday, September 6, 2014 at First Church of God, Marion with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7:00pm Friday evening at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion. Jean Delores Koerner was born on March 1, 1932 at Freeman, SD to Karl and Sophia (Ulmer) Koerner. After attending St. Pauls Lutheran school for 8 years she graduated from Freeman High School in 1950. On July 9, 1950 she was united in marriage to Gene Graber at Freeman. They farmed south of Marion until 1960 when the moved into Marion. They have owned and operated the Bowlway Lanes since 1969. She also was a Tupperware representative for 7 years and worked at the Home Cafe. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church and has attended the First Church of God since moving to Marion. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Den Mother of the Cub Scouts, 4-H Leader, Junior Bowling coach, and secretary of the bowling leagues. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, babysitting, and was an avid traveler. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Gene; 5 children, Margie (Paul) Luke, Marion, Scott (Nancy) Graber, Elizabeth, CO, Terry (Louise Vail) Graber, Littleton, CO, Pam (Bruce) Dickinson, Sioux Falls, and Cheri (Larry) Martinez, Brighton, CO; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a sister Metha Wildermuth, Norfolk, NE; and 2 sister in laws, Ruth Koerner and Phyllis Kaufman, both of Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandsons, Christopher and James, and 6 brothers and sisters, Erwin, Aaron, Julius, Linton, Esther, and Ruth.
