With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Leroy Ebeling, 77,.

Some stories deserve to be told slowly. This is one of them.

Leroy entered this world in 1943 — the start of a journey that would span 77 years.

Leroy spent his working life as ['Sioux Steel and Montgomery Wards'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What is given freely returns in ways we cannot measure.

He worked at Sioux Steel and Montgomery Wards, both of Sioux Falls, before going to work for John Morrells. In the 1980s, LeRoy and Lois formed JDE Trucking and LeRoy drove over the road for many years, with his son, John, later joining him. LeRoy's greatest love was family, farming and antique tractors. You could often find him attending his grandchildren's many activities. Anything from sporting and school events to tractor pulls, he was always there. He and Lois had spent the last several winters camping near San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by wife Lois, daughters, Jackie (Curt) Lukes, Parker; Karen (Chris) Giles, Madison and son John (Sarah) Ebeling, Monroe along with grandchildren Laura (Neil), Kyle (Hannah), Katie (Derek), Jacob, Joshua, Jessica, Jennifer, Jason, Anna and Emily.
