Patty Hitzemann, 56, has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

The chapters of her life were many; these are some of them.

Born in 1961, Patty began a life that would touch many along the way.

Patty held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Faith is a quiet companion through a long life. Patty's walked beside her.

Patty Hitzemann, 56 of Chancellor passed away Tuesday September 12th 2017 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. She remains an inspiration to all who know and love her. Patricia "Patty" Ann was born January 7th 1961 at 12:34am to the delight of proud parents Beverly "Bev" (VanEgdom) and Leonard Brenner. She was joined by sister Pamela "Pam" (Paul Trageser), brother Randall "Randy" and baby sister Veronica (Joel Chirino). She attended Canton High School and was united in marriage with her soul mate Mark Alan Hitzemann September 7th 1979. They enjoyed numerous family adventures around Southeast South Dakota with their beloved children Jami Jo, Leonard and Wade. Patty made it her mission to help people and was admired for her unique offering of peace and love wherever she went. She brightened the lives of all blessed to receive the beautiful gift of her smile. Patty is survived by her mother Beverly, devoted husband Mark, amazing in-laws, three incredible siblings, several treasured nieces and nephews, and her children; daughter Jami Jo Hitzemann-Wede (Jamie, grandson Errol), son Leonard (Melinda, grandsons James and Joseph), son Wade (Ashley, grandson Dexter). Patty lived to bring joy, comfort and protection to everyone she loved. Her indomitable spirit encourages family and friends to persist despite this great loss. She rejoins her father and many other loved ones who have passed before her and prepares to welcome those of us she left behind. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday evening with family present at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday, September 15, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton to follow.
