The family of Robert "Bob" D. Hass, 97, announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

Some stories deserve to be told slowly. This is one of them.

Robert's story began in 1926, and unfolded across the years that followed.

Robert spent his working life as ['civil engineer in several places'] and held deeply to the Methodist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Behind the medals and ribbons was a person — and that person mattered most.

Robert "Bob" Hass, 97, formerly of Parker, died Monday, May 27, 2024 at his home in Lakewood, Colorado. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Parker with burial to follow with military rites at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before services. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Robert Dewaine Hass was born on October 30, 1926 in Nome, Alaska to Dewaine and Mary (Child) Hass. At the age of 2 he moved with his family from Alaska to California where he graduated from San Juan High School in 1945 and received his engineering degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1950. During WW II he served in the US Army, having been stationed in the Pacific Theatre. On August 21, 1965 he was united in marriage to Joy Grebel at Carmel, California. He worked as a civil engineer in several places, mostly in California. In 1978 they moved to his wife Joy's hometown of Parker, South Dakota. Bob was involved and a member of the United Methodist Church, Parker Masonic Lodge, El Riad Shrine, Yankton Scottish Rite, and the Parker Flyvvers. For the past few years he lived in Colorado to be near family. His wife Joy passed away in 1982. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Michael Hass, Sioux Falls, and Tena (Clyde) Harris, Lakewood, CO and two granddaughters, Chloe and Claudia; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Shriners Children Hospitals: https://donate.lovetotherescue.org/fundraiser/5588623
