Lena G. Alendal, 92 died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Viborg. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Viborg with burial at the Holland Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be an hour before services at the church. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Lena G. Glanzer was born on June 7, 1924 at Carpenter, SD to Paul G. and Sarah (Gross) Glanzer. She attended country school and graduated from Huron High School in 1942. On July 16, 1944 she was united in marriage to Eugene A. Alendal at Bethany Lutheran Church, Viborg. They lived in Kansas City for 50 years before moving to Hurley in 2002. While in Kansas City she was employed in the jewelry department at Emery, Bird and Thayer Department Store for 16 years and then the Jones Store Company for 20 years. Her husband Eugene died in 2011. Grateful for having shared her life are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 5 brothers, Sam, Albert, Ed, Walter, and Clarence, and 2 sisters, Sarah and Emma. Memorials maybe directed to the Pioneer Memorial Foundation or Bethany Lutheran Church.
