Mick Turner, 72, has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Some lives speak quietly; his is one such story.

Born in 1947, Mick began a life that would touch many along the way.

Mick held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Faith is a quiet companion through a long life. Mick's walked beside him.

Mick Turner, 72 of Parker, SD died Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home under hospice care surrounded by his family. No services will be held at this time, arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Michael Lee "Mick" Turner was born on December 23, 1947 at Abilene, Texas to Charles and Thelma (Thurmon) Turner. He grew up in the Dallas and Mesquite, Texas area and received a degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ and another from El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. From 1967-1973 he served six years in the US Navy. On June 12, 1969 he was united in marriage to Charlene Berg at First English Lutheran Church in Parker, SD. He was active in many organizations including church board chairman, the South Dakota Health Care Board, and the Vermillion Basin Water Board. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Charlene; his children Chris and wife Tara, Wills Point, TX and Amy and husband Layton Strom, Beresford, SD; 8 grandchildren, Zack, Hannah and Myah Turner, Marina, Cameron, and Talia Strom, and Taylor and Cort Gipson; brothers and sisters, Dorris Gleaton, Donna, TX, Larry (Lisa) Turner, Plano, TX, Gary (Tina) Turner, Greenville, TX, and Kay Ann (Ralph) Butler, Royse City, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in laws Art and Ellen Berg, a brother in law Lynn and a sister in law Dianne.
