Nikki Zebell, 48,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

These few paragraphs cannot hold a life, but they may carry a memory.

Born in 1964, Nikki began a life that would touch many along the way.

The grief of an unfinished life is its own particular kind of grief.

Nikki Zebell, 48, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at her home from cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Parker Community Building, Parker with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation with family present will be on Wednesday from 6-8:00pm at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Nikki Zebell was born on May 28, 1964 at Sioux Falls, SD to Jim and Dot (Shierk) Zebell. At age 9 she moved with her family to Parker. Growing up she was an all around athlete with running being one of her first passions. She was a member of Jobs Daughters and crowned Honor Queen in 1982. She was a member of the boys basketball cheerleaders that won the Spirit of Six Award at the state tounament. She graduated from Parker High school in 1983. In 1984 she attended horse jockey school in Indiana .She married David Haase on April 11, 1986. For over twenty years she drove cement truck for Concrete Materials. For the last fourteen years she worked for several other companies while she was a substitute rural mail carrier for the Parker Post Office. She recently became the full time rural carrier for rural route 2. For over twenty years she served as the President of the Parker Saddle Club. Her passion in life was her horses. She has made friends all over the country while riding, buying, selling and trading horses. She enjoyed sharing her love of horses by training horses and teaching others. She especially loved sharing a ride with kids. Grateful for having shared her life are her parents, Jim and Dot (Shierk) Zebell, Parker; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Demme (Dick) Rand, Delle (Jeff) Thompson, Jerry "JJ" Zebell and Cody (Michaelin) Zebell all of Parker; special friend Dave Haase, Parker, and several nieces and nephews; Haylee, Reeba, Amie, Lacey, Tyler, Zoey, Kennedy, Delanie, Steph, Jon Michael,Jamie, Lance, Natalie, Paige, Neil, Don, Bill, and Jon. She was preceded in death by her by her grandparents, and niece Jenny.
