It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Raymond Alberty, 99, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Some lives speak quietly; his is one such story.

Raymond entered this world in 1919, in Marcus Iowa — the start of a journey that would span 99 years.

Raymond spent his working life as ['Lockheed Aircraft Corp', 'the Rush Lake Lumber Co'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A long life is not measured in days but in the people gathered along the way.

Raymond Alberty, 99 of Perham, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Rosehill Cemetery in Parker. A luncheon will follow at the Senior Citizen Center in Parker. Ray was born on May 13, 1919 in Marcus Iowa, to the late George and Marguerite Alberty. This quiet natured man enjoyed growing up on the farm. After high school he attended American Technical School in Des Moines Iowa to study Aircraft Sheet Metal. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft Corp. of Burbank California, working on the final assembly of the P-38. He married Coral Loretta-Mae Krumbach in Nevada on October 11,1941. Ray was drafted in to the army in 1944 and served with the 27th infantry in Luzon and was awarded with the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. After the war he farmed near Parker SD before moving his family to Ottertail MN in 1956. He worked at the Rush Lake Lumber Co, later buying the business with a partner. He was especially fond of spending time with family and friends and always enjoyed having his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren around. Ray is survived by his children, Sandra (Robert) Kawlewski, Ottertail MN and Monty (Sandi) Alberty, Sioux Falls SD, 12 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-laws Rosie Krumbach, Eldora Zea, and Harriet Larson.
