After a life of love and quiet grace, Madeline "Topsy" Konda, 98, has passed.

Below, a small portrait of a life that will not soon be forgotten.

The story begins in 1921, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

Madeline held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Some find their compass in faith. Madeline was among them.

Madeline "Topsy" Konda, 98 died Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the Tieszen Memorial Home. A family mass will be held with a service to be held at a later date. Burial will be at St. Christina Catholic Cemetery, Parker. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Madeline "Topsy" was born on August 12, 1921 south of Humboldt, SD to Will and Carolyn (Mathews) Miller. She attended country school and on March 2, 1949 she was united in marriage to Henry Konda at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Humboldt, SD. They farmed and in 1959 moved to the farm where they lived near Parker. Her husband died in 2007 after 61 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Christina Catholic Church and lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Carol Ann Smith, Sioux Falls, Robert (Bonnie) Konda, Parker, Diane (John) Quenzer, Pollock, SD, and Gregory (Cindy) Konda, Parker; 19 grandchildren and several grandchildren; daughter in law Trudy Konda, Marion; son in law Larry Bauerle, Lennox; a sister Viola Campbell, Sioux Falls; and sisters in law, Teresa Miller, Emery, SD and Mary Miller, Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, son William, daughter Lorraine, a grandson Jeffrey, and brother and sisters, Willard, Floyd, Herman, Norman, Betty, Dale, Donnie, and Ione "Sis".
