It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Orval J Weegar, 81, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of his story.

Orval entered this world in 1933 — the start of a journey that would span 82 years.

Orval held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Few who serve speak of it freely; those who knew him understood.

Orval J. Weegar, 79 died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Thursday, September 3, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church, Parker with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Wednesday at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm. Orval Jacob Weegar was born on October 28, 1935 to Orval and Leona Schaefer. They lived in the Parker and Monroe area. He served in the US Army. He farmed and was employed at Koyker Manufacturing at Lennox for 20 years. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and the Parker VFW Post 2821. Survivors include a brother Bill Weegar, Parker and 2 nephews, Pat Weegar, Mankato, MN and Billy Weegar, Viborg. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Keo Rose Weegar, brothers Lee and Keith, and a nephew Mike.
