After a life of love and quiet grace, Wendell Faulken, 83, has passed.

A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of his story.

Wendell entered this world in 1930 — the start of a journey that would span 83 years.

Wendell saw decades come and go, and held the lessons of each.

Marion. Wendell L. Faulken, 83, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Graveside services will be at 11:00am Monday, October 7, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion. Wendell Leonard Faulken was born on September 24, 1930 at Bruce, SD to Leonard and Daisey (Dixon) Faulken. He grew up at Bruce and moved with his family to Sioux Falls where he graduated from Washington High School. While he was employed with John Morrell and Company he attended Augustana College and graduated with a bachelors degree. In April of 1959 he was married to Madalon "Maddy" Chilson at Luverne, MN. He was an owner/operator over the road trucker for many years and also drove for TBI, Inc. until he was the age of 82. They lived in Sioux Falls until moving to the Monroe and Marion area in 1980. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Grateful for having shared his life are his 2 children, Ronald E. Faulken, and Wendy (Terry) Lape, all of Marion; 2 grandchildren, Travis (Lynn) Lape and Tiffany Lape; a brother in law, "Wally" Wallenberg, Sioux Falls; a niece Carol Wallenberg, Sioux Falls; and a special friend, Jean Gallagher, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maddy in 2010, and a sister Twila.
